Old Xaverians have entered into an arrangement with Peak Physiotherapy for the 2009 season.
Our Physiotherapists
Andrew Kokinos (B.Physio, Hons) graduated in 1996 from Melbourne University and has worked in hospitals, private practice and with both elite and local sports teams: Andrew was the full time physiotherapist and fitness trainer to the Indian Cricket Team for almost 2 years and has worked with North Melbourne Football Club (AFL), Carlton Soccer Club (former NSL) and the Indian Hockey team during the 1999 Commonwealth Games. Andrew played football for Richmond in the reserves, and played VSFL and EDFL.
Andrew’s major interests lie in sports and spinal injuries, in particular injuries to the lower limbs. Andrew is a very active sportsman himself and promotes active recovery and client education in his treatment of injuries.
John Pompei (B.App.Sc (HM), M.Physio St.) graduated with his Masters from the University of Queensland. John worked with the Gippsland Physiotherapy Group after graduating. Working in country Victoria has given John a tremendous grounding in physiotherapy being exposed to a huge variety of injuries and close contact with many doctors, specialists and allied health practitioners.
John is currently working as a trainer with the Melbourne Football Club and was physiotherapist co-ordinator for the Homeless Soccer World Cup. He enjoys treating all types of injuries, particularly ankles, knees, shoulders and soft tissue complaints. John is a very hand’s on therapist and believes strongly in exercises as part of the rehabilitation plan.
Lachlan Giles (B.App.Sc (Physio)) is our newest physiotherapist who was employed in a role to work in the clinic and be the chief physiotherapist to Old Xavierians Football Club where he is responsible for educating physiotherapy student trainers, assessing, treating and organising rehabilitation of all injuries at the club amongst 6 teams.
Lachlan has been training under Andrew for the past 3 years at football clubs and in the clinic. He competes in high level Jujitsu and is particularly interested in arm and back injuries. Lachlan has been running sessions with final year students on evidence based physiotherapy treatment.
